What is TimeMaker ? 

TimeMaker is not just a nicer looking software product on top of the usual cast of features. It's not the same features with a new set of colors or newly reorganized. It is not just a different way to present data.

WHAT TIMEMAKER SOLVES

Over the years I have noticed a few things that lead me to develop TimeMaker. I'd like to just share these with you quickly because I'm willing to bet you're experiencing most of these yourself, if not all of them.

1. I somehow became a slave to my emails.
2. Sometimes people would not do things I would ask them to do. I would then forget about them and what would cause me to remember would be the situation I would be all of a sudden facing due to the previously forgotten task. So missing the smaller taks earlier would then turn into an almost overwhelming situation later.
3. I also noticed that I would be presented with beautiful plans by my staff but most of the time the plans, upon implementation, exceed their budgets and target dates.
4. My executives, despite being good and competent people, actually were not able to know everything which was supposed to be done in a given day. As days turned into weeks, delays would go unnoticed and the executive in charge would not have enough time to react to the larger situation down the road. By the time the delay would have been brought to the executive's attention (if it even was) it would be too late. So we'd end up needing a magician to fix the problem and, at least in my company, not all executives were magicians.
5. I noticed I'd get more and more emails and have less and less time for actual work. It came to the point where I wasn't sure whether I was controlling the email, or the email was controlling me and it was almost impossible to get ahead of it.
6. Meetings had become a necessary waste of time since many of the decisions that were being made in those meetings were not not being complied with.
7. Software seemed to be surrounding me (Outlook, MS Project, Task Manger etc.) but in the end, my guys only really tracked the important work in their organizations 'manually' using Excel. So obviously all those other applications were very limited in their usefulness and real business value.
8. I noticed, amazingly, that one email asking for a task could generate tens of emails within and outside the organization, generating huge amounts of unproductive noise.

Looking over the situation further I understood the heart of the problem was in the lack of information: executives do not have real-time information regarding what is actually happening in their organizations!

Why TimeMaker?

Because there is no single, unified communication system that actually provides top-to-bottom visibility to all the work and communication within a group or company. Hence, by the time a problem does become visible, it is usually because it has grown in size and now cannot be avoided. What once would have been only a simple emergency, has instead become a dangerous situation.
