From the technical point of view TimeMaker is a distributed database, communicating over the internet. Concept behind this is that, by our research, 90% of the operations over the database are selects and 10% are updates. Therefore our database has all important data stored locally and it's notified by the server with the changes. This system can be a little problematic with a power of people because each change produces a lot of traffic to all connected clients. But the truth is that there is a very simple law, which is, if correctly applied, very useful. The law is: "Data which can be percieved by one person are dramatically under the capacity of today's transfer capacity of the Internet." So the system is built in such a way that it is able to predict which data will be required by which user and to send these data to people. It works quite well and it's FAST. This concept enables to execute the operations offline and to synchronize them properly. Finally you get a system which works like Outlook or other mail clients, but it's still a database so you can enjoy all the benefits from the SQL database, which is mainly the understanding the content of the data. From the application point of view TimeMaker is a communication tool for managing tasks inside an organization. Now it contains:
- Own internal messages
- Production Tasks
- Plans
- Meetings
- Calendar
- Contacts
- Outlook as a mail client
- Company Organization Table
- Personal actions to handle
and others..
Actually you can imagine TimeMaker like a join of Outlook, MS Project, MS Visio and our own workflow technology.
Our plans
Right now we have done the first version of TimeMaker done and we are going to sell it. So what are we going to do next? Believe me there is a HUGE amount of ideas to implement. Just give you some ideas:
- Own mail client - we want to develop a mail client, which will be a part of TimeMaker, but also saleable as a stand alone product and it HAS to be one of the best mail clients ever.
- Module system - TimeMaker will become a framework, under which other companies can develop their own solutions with their favourite languages - Delphi, C++, .NET, Python, ..
- Search Engine - this will be some kind of "Google" over our internal database.
- Implementation of the scripting language to the client and server to increase the database into the real object model database. Each item in the database will be created of some data from different tables and a set of actions which will manipulate with these data.
and this is just the beginning!
